Energetic Healing

Many people are interested in healing.

There are five elements/levels to energetic healing,

(Physical        Emotional        Mental)        Energetic        Spiritual

There two modes, Seeing, and Formal.

There are many healing modalities, or ways in which healing is approached. For Chi Kung we mean that we are adjusting the energy in order to achieve the result. That energy however can be worked with from any element or level. When you are in a car accident and break your arm. You get rushed to the hospital and they set the bones. This is a formal physical treatment. The advent of western medicine is one of the single biggest events to effect human population in our history. However in individual instances, a particular person, then we begin to seek other forms of healing.

Whether you are working on someone or  even yourself, you will either intuitively work at the problem, or you will apply a formula. Acupuncture is a formal procedure and for that you need training and practice. Although you can learn the first aid level, and procedures for common maladies. The formula method works very well and for the most part we can treat acupuncture and as a physical method that accesses the flow of energy in the body. Physical means, the needles are used to regulate the flow. Sensitivity on the part of the doctor is important in doing pulse diagnosis and other types of examination and this will fit into their framework for understanding. The science of acupuncture can do amazing things especially in terms of anesthetics, but there are some diseases, such as cancer, for which is ineffective, although alleviating pain caused by cancer or its treatments may be possible.

From the physical level the energy can be effected and this will effect the emotional and mental being as well.

Energetic healing uses energy to act on the physical, emotional, or mental level. This can be done with touch, or it can be done by off the body. Many systems exist for this. Many people also intuitively begin to do this and are successful with no training at all, as it is a latent ability that comes out when one is sufficiently developed.

Some systems such as polarity therapy use touch to create circuits that adjust the energy. Which is different from accupressure though that can be incorporated. Partly by intuition, partly with a formula and a framework of understanding. If you are on the yin side of the body you will want to make a connection to a yang part. They may have formulas for a headache. It gives a set of instructions as to what to do. However you may have a feeling or intuition of what needs to be done as part of this process.

The degree into which intuition or subtle senses plays a role is dependent on the person, however systems that access energy sensitivity directly will often be more likely to produce and intuitive instance do to the fact that the mind must be in a particular state in order for the energy to be felt.

Having the mind occupied with a mental framework is very effective, for example in the case of small pox, and it can be helpful in protecting the healer from either mirroring or exchanging.

Chi Kung healing can be exercises that help support proper meridian function, or treating a known condition such as high blood pressure. For a particular condition one should seek someone who has worked in this area. It requires accurate diagnosis and a grounded experience in what is and is not working.

Other exercises are for health maintenance, but generally I find that any exercises you do contributes to health.

Then there comes using energy to work on other people. Most of these involve either calling down energy and letting it do the work, or guiding the energy through patterns. The formal has set patterns, the intuitive goes by feel and let's the energy guide the circulation.

"Is it possible to develop in oneself a capacity for healing?"

By consciously uniting with the Divine Force, all is possible in principle. But a         procedure has to be  found, depending on the case and the individual.
The first condition is to have a physical nature that gives energy rather than         draws energy from  others.

The second indispensable condition is to know how to draw energy from above,         from the one  impersonal and inexhaustible source.

For the intuitive school some factors must be considered. The first is that the person must be a good channel for the energy, and there is a question of whether this can be trained, yes it can. But often it's the emotional area where the training needs to occur. There is also the question of whether one needs to develop the energy body for this. Yes, it is helpful. That is what the 8 energy healing set is for as well as the Standing exercises for Healing.

The healer's self development most be on going. Some people have an affinity with this kind of work, call it talent, and are able to do it and thrive. Most people will dabble and lose interest or go from one class to another. Energy healing work is a good way to learn subtle knowledge and see hidden nature's forces at play, and is not something that most people should be doing regularly beyond the learning phase. There are some who need to this and should be and are quite good.

The healer is usually define by who he or she is, not by the system they use.

When energy is brought in for healing there are levels of interaction. The first question is of receptivity, and this is on both the part of the healer and of the person being worked on. If there is resistance conscious or not, then the energy will be ineffective. This can happen to the healer, they will be effective sometimes and with some people, but not with others, due to the energetic problem of the patient hitting to close to home.

The training to be a good medium for the energy is something that most healers do all the time, whether by reading books on the topic, or doing energetic exercises or even just praying. This has more to do with emotional development. There are people of such caring and giving hearts who can awaken in a person their natural ability to heal themselves, or people who have such a daring confidence and inner strength that they can inspire a patient to over come tremendous odds. They can do this without ever being conscious of the energy.

The second level of interaction has to do with the points of contact. You tend to mirror what you see. Whether this be identifying with a character or athlete on TV or whether you listening energetically to a patient's problem. Although you can pick up bad energy from another person, many times your energy body simply mirrors what the other person is doing, and although this gives you a feel for the problem it can also cause disruption in your self.

To much concentration on problems brings them. This is why it is good not to use the fix model or to even think of terms of healing, but rather think in terms of transformation, of growth, and progress.

"It furthers one to have somewhere to go."
        I-Ching, Book of Changes

People with high stress jobs such as paramedics or police often have burn out rates and problems dealing with the emotional traumas of their experiences. Rates of alcoholism, divorce, etc. Others have the ability to create a strong resistance, they don't let it get to them.

So energetic healers often have to resolve this issue. There are several practices which strengthen the resistance to disturbances and allow you to keep out unwanted influences or transform them. Having a formal pattern, a recipe helps you to be more removed and occupy a less receptive space because you are generally in a mental space while doing work. I generally approach this through physical practices that stimulate the fire element, standing, the feeling exercises, and inner work practices of Trance, Inner Vision, and Symbolic Transformation.

When you work on someone you are changing the flow of energy and this works on a physical level, an emotional level, and a mental one. Any three of these may be the cause or the place of manifestation or of the disturbance.

The first effect of the energy is usually relaxation, and then as the subtle body is able to flow more freely the problem usually comes to the surface. Emotional tensions relax, and also mental ones. The problem they have will come into the mind and usually be talked about in terms of a story. The skill of the healer is not so much about the energy at this point as the ability to see what the problem is and to counsel the person. This involves wisdom and emotional engagement. That varies from person to person and can be trained, but some people are very natural at it. This is why the energy can be effected directly from the mental. Affirmations for healing are an example.

Emotionally the energy can be exchanged and this can be tricky. Many healers fall into the trap at one time of another of trying to be helpful to someone who likes to feed on helpful energy. They aren't interested in any recovery, they just want the attention of someone helpful. Emotional manipulation cuts both ways. There are some people who can radiate and give you confidence by their interaction with you, a strong emotional power can be very aggrandizing and make for a powerful individual. People focus this power and use to help others or exploit their need for the feeling. I usually point to motivational speakers who often sound good when you listen to them, but you find that that their practices don't work as advertised no matter how you great you felt when you heard them. Coaches use this ability at half time.

Emotional exchange works at all levels, a confident courageous healer will make you feel confident that you will get better and this is very helpful both in terms of making you receptive and in terms of mobilizing your own energy. How much easier it is to talk someone who is sweet, guileless, and non-threatening. This kind of person can allow intimate thoughts to come up and delicate issues to be examined.

This is partially the study of Projection and Identification, and further, how we sense and create Atmosphere. At the top of the list is being able to create a spiritual atmosphere. That is different from a healing one. The Harmony exercises are helpful here.

Mental suggestions can be quite powerful in both good and bad ways. Having a chiropractor tell you that they are afraid of the exercises your doing in chi kung might hurt your spine, can definitely cause your spine to hurt. Mental-physical suggestions are either external done in ordinary speech, or are subtle where this is an energetic transference of consciousness and will. The physical consciousness receives and acts upon these subtle suggestions. This ability is usually specialized. As in the case of a chiropractor, they are very concentrated in this area of knowledge and so they can be quite powerful within that domain.

In teaching yoga I have often had the experience of seeing a misalignment and feeling my body react to it (I feel uncomfortable) by inwardly re-moving correctly. Then I feel the energy project from my body as a small concentrated fluid, or a symbol. It flows across the room and enters the student who then reacts by adjusting, all before I can say or do anything.

Mental physical suggestions of this sort generally work best when you know the person well, such as mother to child, or in an area of relationship to an authority, a specialized concentration in some area of knowledge.

The ability to "see" is very important. This can be trained so that the mental power of discrimination is good, and then it can be equipped by good imagery, clear mental presentations that serves as a basis for explanation and suggestion.

The mental power can be seen acting easiest in teaching. When you are able to guide someone's understanding then you are in effect healing them. Or better still leading them to transformation! This goes on all the time, but we don't always spend as much time looking at unhealthy influences which includes suggestions all around us.

As you are able to see the causes within the self for the unfolding of the Self, then you can see it in others. These include influence of occult (hidden forces of nature) forces, such as people who can see nonphysical entities, to seeing patterns or themes or development. For instance I once treated a women who had a cold on the day she got her degree in computing from college. She was married and had come from over seas. I saw very clearly a clock in a cabinet. When I said this she said that she had placed a clock in a cabinet in the garage the day before. It was gift for her husband's teacher and they were storing it for when he came later in the year. I understood at that moment that the cold was the result of confusion, she was not happy with her degree, because it was really a way to fill the time, she wasn't really interested in it, nor was she likely to get a job. She thought she should feel elated at the accomplishment, the cold gave her an excuse, she was sick, so not feeling well. What she really wanted was to have a child, and that had to wait, until their financial picture changed.

I also knew that I couldn't explain that to her because it was a touchy issue with her husband, over the timing of a child they both wanted. My role as the healer getting into the middle of situation was not a good thing, I could feel no receptivity to dealing with that issue.

This brings in the understanding of what the limitations are. You may be in a car accident and hurt, there are people out there who can see why you suffered the accident and what the mental emotional causes are that put you into that situation. This is a type of truth consciousness above the mental ranges in the spiritual ones. However someone who can see this, may not want to be attached to it, with you, and chooses not to look, or if they do, you may not be receptive. This has to do with their own further development and where you are in yours. Think of it like the reaction of the person who sees the suffering of a nearby town in a disaster without being concerned at all the suffering that is going on all the time all over the globe.

Many people are interested in healing.

The physical is receptive to the emotional part of the being. Playing basketball, versus cleaning the garage. If your heart is in it you will have plenty of energy, if it is a sucky job…

The mental is strongly receptive to the emotional. Political discussion are rarely an in depth examination of the issues, as they are an opportunity for emotional indulgence. Many academics are very bright in a narrow field, and very emotionally opinionated about everything else, after all there thoughts are important, why not all their thoughts? Their habit of mind is to think they are right.

If the emotional part is highly developed or you develop it it will be reflected in both the health of the body and the mental powers. The emotional powers if sufficiently developed will turn towards receiving the spiritual influences. Right action will follow.

If the mental powers can be established with only good emotional influences, then a very open and wide consciousness is possible. Further if the mental powers can be made receptive to the spiritual ones then true wisdom and vision will come.

The physical consciousness can be developed by awareness of the energy, and moving it through the body. This will relax the body and natural movement will emerge. Body intuition such as good athlete's have can come. You will make the right move in novel conditions. Your body will not come under influences that will move towards illness, but will be receptive to good ones, including diet.

For healers there is also the problem of spending their time externally focused on others and not inwardly focused on themselves.

The energetic feeling allows you to sense where points of tension and contact are, the quality of the flow and vibration, and allow you to open new pathways towards your goals.
